From the Heart | My Journey

So..this is a whole new thing for me…”sharing my heart” on my photography blog.  If you’re a reoccurring client of mine you’ve probably noticed a transformation since you saw me last year.  Some of you would make comments on how great my hair looked at your sessions…of course I had to giggle, because my hair hasn’t really changed 🙂 And there were a few of you much bolder and called the cat out of the bag and flat out said, Wow, you’ve lost weight!  For the few of you that did that, Thank You!  You have no idea how much it made my day !

I’ve struggled with my weight pretty much my whole life, up and down on the scale, I’m sure many of you reading this can relate.  I’ve had two precious baby girls in the last 5 years and that didn’t help me, though I wouldn’t change for the world!

Last November 1st I decided it was time for a change and the time was NOW!  I spent my “off-seaon” of photography getting healthy.  No diets, no low fat craziness, just eating the right foods and exercising.  I have to admit when I first started, I felt I was a case of emanate failure.  Slowly as the months would creep by, I kept progressing and began gaining confidence…and thinking “hey, maybe I can do this”

I had an amazing support system to thank for my success….

My husband, he was so understanding when I worked out 6 days a week the first 4 months, not once did he ever complain!

My best friend Shannon for telling me to suck it up and keep going when I wanted to quit!

Marcelle, my Body Step instructor at the YMCA for constantly making the effort to welcome me to classes and encouraging me to come back!

Jared, my personal trainer at the YMCA for teaching me how to train my body to burn calories efficiently and sculpt my muscles!

And all the friends and family members who continued to encourage me even when I felt like I couldn’t do it….

Because of all of these amazing people in my life and the drive and willpower inside of me, I have lost an amazing 48 pounds.  I couldn’t have done it with out them or believing in myself.  Being healthy is a choice, a very conscious one.  Somedays I didn’t do so well, but I always got back on track the next day.  I didn’t let one bad choice in food, or one choice to not work out ruin my overall journey.  Life is about the journey, EMBRACE it, you will never be perfect, but those who keep trying WILL Succeed.

BEFORE/AFTER

As part of reaching my goal, I wanted to treat myself to new head shots for my website 🙂  My amazing Friend Laura Ivanova took these for me and I had the very talented Emily J work her magic on my hair and make-up!
