Here are some frequently asked questions regarding Newborn Sessions:

Q: When should I book a newborn session?

A: I recommend booking your newborn photography session early in your 2nd trimester or after your ultrasound (usually around 20 weeks). Occasionally we will have last minute appointments available so even if you’re late to the booking process, definitely still reach out! Newborn sessions are then tentatively scheduled 7-14 days following delivery. This is when baby will be most sleepy and easiest to pose. If your baby arrives early or you deliver late, the date will be adjusted.

Q: Do I need to provide outfits for my newborn?

A: You do not need to provide any outfits, hats or headbands for your newborn baby. JM Photography has an extensive closet with all colors of the rainbow. I will ask your color preferences prior to our session so we pick what’s just right! If you have something you’d like to use during your session send us an email with a photo of the item and we will make sure to have something to go with it.

Q: What should parents and siblings wear for newborn sessions?

A: In our Minneapolis Newborn Studio we recommend light colors that go with our beautiful light and airy space. Colors like cream, blush, light blue and light grey work great. It’s best to stick to solid colors or very small patterns so focus is on baby!

Q: Where is your studio located?

A: My Photography Studio is located just outside of the downtown minneapolis area in the NE Minneapolis art district. The address is 1618 Central Avenue NE, Suite 135, Minneapolis, MN 55413. There is ample free parking and we are conveniently located on the first floor near Diamonds Coffee Shoppe

Q: What if my baby arrives early or late?

A: If there is one thing about Newborn Babies we know, it’s that they come on their own time! Never fear, we leave time in our schedule to reschedule your newborn session for when you are able to come in. Again, we aim for that 7-14 day old range, but understand sometimes with NICU stays that isn’t always possible.
