The year 2020 was like none other I’ve experienced in my 15+ years of weddings. Covid virtually took down the wedding industry to a halt. Thankfully, I was still able to photograph some elopement style weddings that year. It felt so good to get back to what I loved! I cannot say enough good things about Mary and James Lake Minnetonka Wedding. It was quaint, but full of so much love, especially from their adorable golden retriever Odie. He was such an important part of their day, as you’ll see below. Mary and James met out in Colorado. James actually is a ski instructor and has a store in Colorado. He proposed to Mary on the top of Vail Mountain with Odie of course! I loved how they incorporated their love of skiing into parts of their day.
The day started out at Mary’s parents lovely home on Lake Minnetonka. We were able to do all their getting ready photos and wedding portraits there. We then traveled to the marina to jump on a beautiful boat at Al & Alma’s. Immediate family and a few friends were able to witness a beautiful roof top ceremony before going below for dinner and toasts. My favorite part of the evening was sunset photos on the bow of the boat. We couldn’t have asked for a more picturesque location to finish out James & Mary’s wedding day. I also believe Odie could have a professional career in dog modeling because he was on point the whole day!
