Twin Cities Newborn Photographers

Here are some frequently asked questions regarding Newborn Sessions:

Q: When should I book a newborn session?

A: I recommend booking your newborn photography session early in your 2nd trimester or after your ultrasound (usually around 20 weeks). Occasionally we will have last minute appointments available so even if you’re late to the booking process, definitely still reach out! Newborn sessions are then tentatively scheduled 7-14 days following delivery. This is when baby will be most sleepy and easiest to pose. If your baby arrives early or you deliver late, the date will be adjusted.

Q: Do I need to provide outfits for my newborn?

A: You do not need to provide any outfits, hats or headbands for your newborn baby. JM Photography has an extensive closet with all colors of the rainbow. I will ask your color preferences prior to our session so we pick what’s just right! If you have something you’d like to use during your session send us an email with a photo of the item and we will make sure to have something to go with it.

Q: What should parents and siblings wear for newborn sessions?

A: In our Minneapolis Newborn Studio we recommend light colors that go with our beautiful light and airy space. Colors like cream, blush, light blue and light grey work great. It’s best to stick to solid colors or very small patterns so focus is on baby!

Q: Where is your studio located?

A: My Photography Studio is located just outside of the downtown minneapolis area in the NE Minneapolis art district. The address is 1618 Central Avenue NE, Suite 135, Minneapolis, MN 55413. There is ample free parking and we are conveniently located on the first floor near Diamonds Coffee Shoppe

Q: What if my baby arrives early or late?

A: If there is one thing about Newborn Babies we know, it’s that they come on their own time! Never fear, we leave time in our schedule to reschedule your newborn session for when you are able to come in. Again, we aim for that 7-14 day old range, but understand sometimes with NICU stays that isn’t always possible.

I know the gram has been quiet but it’s been busy behind the scenes! Lots of editing going on as I wrap up my fall season with a few more sessions to go before things really slow down for Christmas. My 2026 wedding calendar is officially booked and I will now only be taking 2027 weddings and beyond! Thank you to all my clients who continue to support me 🤍
Last week I had the privilege to photograph Madeline and Aaron at Lake Superior. This week, I get to go explore Lake Superior and the Apostle Islands. I will be out of the office 8/7-8/10. Soaking up these last few days of summer with my family before back to school! Can't wait for M&A's wedding next August in Duluth!

Not sure how my baby grew up to be an adult, but here we are! She turns 18 this fall and in just 3 more sleeps, we will board a plane with her sister and dad to explore Italy & France. I'll be out of the office July 9-24th, so if you need to get a hold of me, I will get back to you when we're back state side. Make sure to follow our adventures on IG stories!
