Being a Minnesota Wedding Photographer the last 15+ years has allowed me the privilege to see many gorgeous wedding venues. Some of my favorite midwest wedding venues are the old barns that are refurbished into gorgeous wedding ceremony and reception spaces. Now I can’t say I’ve photographed at every barn in the area, but here are my top 5 favorites over the years!
Redeemed Farm- Scandia, Minnesota
Redeemed Farm is a luxury barn wedding venue just 35 minutes North of the Twin Cities in the St. Croix Valley wine country. If features a new beautiful white barn and a more traditional rustic red barn. What I love most about this venue is the absolutely stunning landscaping they’ve done to the property. So many great areas for photos including a small vineyard area just behind the white barn. Best of all this property is a great venue year round with their state of the art heating and cooling system!
Mayowood Stone Barn- Rochester, Minnesota
The Mayowood Stone Barn is a century old stone barn located just 6 miles from downtown Rochester, MN. This barn is a stunning venue that is great for locals but also close enough to the Twin Cities for guests to travel down for the day. What I love about this barn is the beautiful light stone detailing and white accents. It makes such a beautiful backdrop for photos. I also love that the property is covered in large mature oak trees. Most ceremonies take place under a large oak tree on the side yard but if it rains, never fear they have a beautiful ceremony spot in the Loft on the second floor of the main barn.
Almquist Farm – Hastings, Minnesota
Almquist Farm is located just 30 minutes south of Minneapolis and St. Paul. This beautiful barn wedding venue features 70 acres of rolling hills with a newly renovated reception barn. They have a gorgeous ceremony space situated in-between a grove of large mature oak trees, which is my favorite spot on the property! At sunset you can utilize the beautiful field just behind the reception barn. There really are so many options at this beautiful wedding venue! No matter rain or shine you have many beautiful backdrop options!
Bloom Lake Barn-Shafer, Minnesota
Another beautiful barn in the St. Croix River Valley, just 40 minutes from the Twin Cities! Bloom Lake Barn’s iconic white and blue barn is one of my favorites because I love how the outside photographs. I love the enormous blue doors on the front side and the salvaged church windows throughout. They include beautiful hand built harvest tables as well as a closet full of decor items! The ceremony space features lovely old church pews painted white amongst large mature trees. It makes for the perfect place to say I do!
Dellwood Barn Weddings -Grant, Minnesota
The Dellwood Barn was homesteaded in the 1860’s as a dairy farm. They started to transform this barn in the early 2000’s to become Dellwood Barn Weddings. With over a decade of hard work, this barn is sure to charm your socks off. The barn makes for a beautiful backdrop for photos. Iconic white fencing and rolling hills make this venue a dream for your wedding. Located just 20 miles north of Minneapolis makes this barn a super convenient location! Ceremonies take place on top of a lovely hill overlooking the whole property. End the night making smores out back with your guests under the stars!
Next up is a bonus barn I am super in love with…So hard to pick just five!
Historic Furber Farm – Cottage Grove, Minnesota
Furber Farm is another great local barn just far enough out of the Twin Cities that you feel at ease and relaxed but close enough that your guests don’t need an overnight hotel stay if you’re a local! This beautiful barn is air conditioned and heated for the best possible experience. They have multiple ceremony locations on the property and they can host up to 500 of your favorite friends and family. I also loved their very large bride and groom suites. Lots of space to spend the morning getting ready for the big day. In addition to this beautiful white barn are lush rolling hills and large mature trees. Perfect for all your photo needs!
