Every year my family plans a little vacation away at a cabin and I was so excited when I got a call from Laura and her mom about shooting her wedding in Grand Forks, ND. Normally this would be about a 5 hour drive for me, but luckily I was ending my vacation the day before her wedding and it happened to only be 3 hours from them. I got up early and made the 3 hour drive through the Minnesota farm land and crossed over into North Dakota. I started my day in Thompson, ND at Laura’s family home. We had a great morning photographing her details and those special moments between her family. I couldn’t help but think that someday this will be me with my own daughters. Laura and family are so close and it’s so evident in the photos from their special day. I was tearing up all day just capturing them through my lens. This is what I live for! Documenting these gorgeous stories!
We proceeded to St. Jude Catholic Church in Thompson. Such a special church since so many in her family have been married there. They had a touching ceremony with many laughs and tears of joy! Afterwards we went to University Park near the UND campus. Such a gorgeous spot for wedding photos. We had the most amazing light for wedding party pictures! The soft pinks and baby’s breath looked gorgeous with the park’s views. I was also in love with they guys bow ties and suspenders! Totally a classic look!
Finally we spend the evening at the Alerus Center in North Dakota. I have to say my mouth dropped when I entered the ball room. Laura and her mom did an amazing job with the decor colors and theme. I loved all the florals provided by Sadies Flowers. Simple elegance done amazingly well! Enjoy all the photo goodness from Laura & Ricky’s day…
